Student programs available at Nexteer Automotive include co-op programs and selected internships at locations around the world. Throughout the education-work experience, students have the opportunity to enhance their academic training and personal skills, while gaining work experience.
Nexteer Automotive co-op positions and internships are designed to offer students enrolled in universities and colleges an exciting opportunity to gain practical, meaningful and challenging real-world work experience. Throughout the assignment, students are able to improve their academic backgrounds and professional skills. The work assignments are established to complement the student’s academic training and/or career goals. The components and features of Nexteer Automotive student programs vary at different global locations.
The availability of student positions is determined annually based on forecasted staffing needs for each Nexteer Automotive operating site. Most co-ops and interns are hired through consultation with the student’s university or college career development office. U.S. student employment opportunities can be found on the Job Openings page.
Nexteer Automotive uses a behavior-based interview structure conducted by Human Resources representatives. Final selection for the student programs is based on a combination of qualifications, academic performance, interview results and staffing requirements.
The Nexteer Cooperative Education Program (Co-op) provides a means to improve the quality of college graduate hires by concentrating on cooperative work experiences with colleges and universities known for their educational excellence and the relevance of their curriculum. The program is for college students who are enrolled in a cooperative program to complement academic advancement. Nexteer currently has a Cooperative Education Program with Kettering University. The Nexteer University Intern Program offers university students challenging opportunities to gain practical working experiences in their area of study. Interns are typically available during summer semester breaks from university studies. Work assignments are available in a variety of functional areas. The Nexteer Parallel Student Program offers students the opportunity to work part-time while attending college full-time throughout the year. Work assignments are available in a variety of functional areas. The number of hours worked will be determined by the Student Program Coordinator in conjunction with the student. Nexteer currently has Parallel Student Program opportunities with Saginaw Valley State University, Northwood University, and the University of Michigan – Flint. The Nexteer-Delta College Workstudy Program offers students from Delta College the opportunity to work part-time while attending college full-time throughout the year.
